A WORD FROM THE EXPERT
1. Choose products that suit your skin type
- Oily, acne-prone skin: Opt for a non-comedogenic cleansing oil and a foaming cleanser containing ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to help control excess oil and prevent breakouts.
- Dry and sensitive skin: Choose a gentle cleansing oil, rich in nourishing plant oils such as sweet almond or jojoba oil , and a moisturizing cleanser without sulfates or harsh fragrances to avoid irritation.
- Normal to combination skin: Use a balancing cleansing oil and a gentle foaming cleanser with ingredients like hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture.
2. Water temperature
Use lukewarm water for both steps of cleansing. Water that's too hot can strip your skin of its natural oils, causing dryness and irritation, while cold water may not be as effective at dissolving impurities.
3. Frequency
Double cleansing is generally recommended in the evening to remove impurities accumulated during the day. In the morning, a single water cleanse may be enough to prepare your skin for your morning routine. However, if you usually apply active ingredients in the evening before going to bed, it's best to cleanse your skin when you wake up.
4. Hydration and care
After double cleansing, immediately apply your serum and moisturizer. This will help seal in moisture and maximize the benefits of your skincare routine.
5. Consult a professional
When in doubt, consult your pharmacist or dermatologist for personalized recommendations based on your skin type and specific concerns. They can advise you on the best products and ingredients to incorporate into your double-cleansing routine!
